**Position Overview:**
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Retail Wine Sales Manager to lead our tasting room team. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring that every guest has an exceptional experience, driving wine sales, and fostering brand loyalty.
**Key Responsibilities:**
**Guest Experience & Hospitality**
- Welcome every visitor with warmth and provide an engaging, educational wine tasting experience.
- Share the story of our winery with passion, cultivating a sense of community and belonging.
- Train staff in hospitality, wine knowledge, and effective storytelling to enhance customer engagement.
- Manage guest flow to ensure smooth service during both busy weekends and quieter weekdays.
- Address customer inquiries, concerns, and special requests with professionalism and care.
**Sales & Wine Club Growth**
- Develop and implement strategies to increase tasting room sales.
- Actively promote and grow our wine club through staff training and guest engagement.
- Train staff in upselling techniques to convert casual visitors into loyal patrons.
- Track and analyze sales performance, providing reports and recommendations for improvement.
**Operations & Business Management**
- Oversee daily tasting room operations, ensuring a clean, organized, and efficient environment.
- Manage inventory of wine, merchandise, and supplies.
- Ensure compliance with alcohol service regulations.
- Maintain the POS system, reconcile daily sales, handle cash flow, and monitor financial performance.
**Staff Leadership & Training**
- Recruit, train, and schedule a team of tasting room associates, ensuring high levels of engagement and service.
- Conduct regular wine education sessions to enhance staff product knowledge.
- Lead by example, fostering a culture of teamwork, respect, and professionalism.
- Monitor staff performance, providing coaching and feedback to drive results.
**Marketing & Brand Representation**
- Collaborate with the social media manager to develop promotions for wine tastings, new releases, and special events.
- Represent the winery at industry events, wine festivals, and trade shows.
- Work closely with leadership to create tasting experiences that reflect our vision and elevate the brand.
**Key Qualifications**
- A passion for wine, food, and guest experience—no formal tasting room experience required! We will provide training for the right candidate.
- Hospitality or customer service experience in restaurants, hotels, retail, or similar industries is highly valued.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to create memorable experiences and build guest relationships.
- Comfort with sales and upselling, or a willingness to learn techniques to promote wine and club memberships.
- Leadership experience in managing teams, scheduling, or training staff is a plus.
- Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced, seasonal environment.
- Experience with POS systems and handling transactions is helpful, but we will train the right person.
- Availability to work weekends, holidays, and peak season hours based on winery needs.
- ServSafe or equivalent alcohol safety certification preferred but not required—we can assist with certification.
