General Dynamics in St Leonards-on-Sea currently provide avionic mission computing systems for a wide range of military fast jets, helicopters, and UAVs. Recent success has resulted in General Dynamics developing the next generation of Advanced High Performance, Safety Critical Mission Computer Systems to meet the needs of latest platforms in development by several aircraft manufacturers. These Mission Computing Systems provide the functionality that integrates aircraft systems, sensor systems and stores management systems with the information and control systems required by the aircrew to meet the demanding operational needs of these aircraft.

Job Description

We are hiring Project Manager & Senior Project Managers within our expanding avionics team.

Managing all aspects of assigned project(s) to achieve schedule milestones and cost targets, meeting performance targets for technical compliance and quality standards, while ensuring customer satisfaction . You will be accountable for developing and maintaining a detailed project plan for all elements of the project to enable delivery to time, budget and customer targets. Using project management techniques to identify risks early and lead a small cross-functional team to deliver customer requirements.

Typical day to day tasks include:

• Manage and execute projects from Bid Phase, Production, Support Including Spares and Repairs and Disposal)
• Accountability for projects performance (schedule, milestones and financial metrics)
• Provide the primary point-of-contact for the customer. Communicate and liaise to keep them informed of work progress to schedule, and discuss issues arising.
• Identify and pursue follow on business opportunities for all company product areas
• For both follow-on and new business opportunities participate in pre-bid / bid stage discussions. Act as the Bid Manager to manage and co-ordinate the generation of cost estimates and proposal material. Organise and execute the key bid reviews

Qualifications

To be considered for these Project Manager roles, you should have a number of years experience working in a project environment and a positive attitude towards problem-solving. You will also need:

• Project management experience gained within large, complex, multiple stakeholder projects - engineering, production & manufacturing practices and procedures would be preferred. Defence industry experience required for more senior positions.
• Customer facing experience coupled with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Understanding of project management techniques, including cost accounting, progress monitoring, risk and opportunity management and performance reporting
• Proactive management and strong schedule adherence
• Programme Management qualification desirable (E.g. APMP)

Additional Information

Depending on experience these roles have starting salaries of between 50,560 and 77,500 plus our flexible benefits package.

We are open to this role being spent with time working from home and in the office (hybrid - typically 2 days working from home) on a weekly basis or fully in our office in St Leonards-on-Sea.
