Casa Tua is seeking a dedicated and skilled Prep Cook to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate is passionate about food, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and takes pride in executing prep work with accuracy, speed, and precision . A strong foundation in knife skills , the ability to follow detailed instructions , and a commitment to Department of Health (DOH) standards are essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Execute high-volume prep work including washing, peeling, chopping, slicing, and dicing a variety of ingredients with speed and accuracy.
Follow all standardized recipes and prep lists provided by the culinary team.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of prep areas in accordance with DOH kitchen standards and internal safety protocols.
Ensure all mise en place is prepared in a timely manner to support service needs.
Label, date, and properly store all prepped items to ensure freshness and minimize waste.
Assist with inventory checks and restocking of stations as needed.
Operate kitchen equipment safely and correctly.
Communicate effectively with chefs and teammates to ensure consistency and efficiency.
Maintain a flexible schedule and be available to work weekends, holidays, and shifts as required.
Qualifications:
1+ year experience in a professional kitchen preferred, ideally in Mediterranean or Italian cuisine.
Proven knife skills and familiarity with high-volume prep tasks.
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions without deviation.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure and maintain composure in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of food safety, handling, and sanitation standards (NYC Food handlers preferred).
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
Dependable, punctual, and a team player with a strong work ethic.
