Job Description

St. Augustine Catholic High School

Primary Function

Under the direction of the School President, this role is responsible for assisting with the marketing strategy and planning successful events for St. Augustine Catholic High School from start to finish. The employee shall be a minister of the Gospel and Catholic Teaching behaviorally while at work and in his/her personal life.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs in support of the mission of the Catholic Church.
  • Shall abide by Catholic principles in the employee’s professional and public life and shall govern his/her professional and public life in accordance with Catholic morals and principles.
  • Coordinates various internal special events, receptions, convocations, and business meetings, to include organizing resources, tours, meetings, and event processes.
  • Creates marketing materials for the school.
  • Promotes the school at various events and at different feeder schools.
  • Helps maintain content on the school website.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date contact listings, records, and files for all events.
  • Develops a network of event vendors to simplify event planning.
  • Coordinates with vendors, exhibitors, subcontractors, and governmental entities during event planning and execution.
  • Manages event setup, teardown, and follow-up, including organizational tools, production timelines, contact lists, and onsite delivery schedules.
  • Handles event management on the day of, including problem-solving, directing setup, and organizing vendors.
  • Manages collateral production for printed materials, brochures, and other marketing pieces.
  • Attends community functions to network and identify potential opportunities.
  • Identifies potential opportunities at the local level and creates campaigns to capitalize on them.
  • Understanding of commercial kitchen operations and catering methodologies.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical/Mental Requirements

Requires coordination and manual dexterity, normal mental and visual ability; ability to lift in a normal office environment.

Required Activities

Walking; sitting; standing; kneeling; stooping; reaching; talking; handling; hearing; carrying; and keyboarding.

Basic Qualifications

  • A working knowledge of, and a strong commitment to the mission of fostering lay leadership in the Catholic Church; must be a practicing Catholic in full communion with the Church.
  • Excellent communication skills including written, verbal, public speaking, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent human relations and interpersonal skills; must be a self-starter, well-organized, and a team player; strong leadership skills.
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • The ability to work under strict deadlines.
  • Proficiency in computer technology including word processing and the use of spreadsheets, databases, and related technology.
  • Capable of working with internal and external teams and partners.
  • Experience coordinating large-scale events.
  • Proven track record of identifying and maximizing event opportunities.
  • Available for evening and weekend work as necessary; must have reliable transportation.
  • The ability to successfully complete a criminal history and background check.
  • Professional bearing and clean and neat personal appearance.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality Management, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Successfully worked on events for a minimum of 3-5 years.

Other/Preferred Skills

  • Experience in event management.
  • Bi-lingual.
