Job Title: Director of Climate Finance

Location: Remote

Job Type: Part-Time Contract, potential for Full time with a competitive salary as the start up firm scales

We are seeking a dynamic  Director of Climate Finance to lead our financial strategy for climate initiatives. The Director focuses on developing innovative, sustainable finance models, securing funding for climate projects, and ensuring alignment between financial planning and our mission of climate justice and sustainable development. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in climate finance and sustainable investing, with a proven track record in securing and managing funds for impactful projects.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Strategy & Planning

• Develop and execute a comprehensive climate finance strategy that supports clean energy initiatives and sustainable development projects.
• Collaborate with the CFO and Executive Leadership Team to align financial strategies with our organizational mission and strategic priorities.

2. Funding & Investment Management

• Identify and secure funding opportunities from grants, impact investors, and philanthropic organizations.
• Implement sustainable investment models that drive financial resources toward climate justice and environmental impact projects.

3. Risk Management & Compliance

• Monitor financial risks and ensure that climate finance initiatives comply with relevant regulatory standards and sustainability criteria.
• Develop robust risk management frameworks that balance financial returns with environmental and social outcomes.

4. Stakeholder Engagement & Advocacy

• Build strategic alliances with government agencies, financial institutions, industry partners, and other key external stakeholders.
• Represent the organization at industry events, policy forums, and investor meetings, advocating for sustainable climate finance.

5. Data-Driven Impact Measurement

• Work closely with the Head of AI and Data Science and Research Associates to integrate AI-driven analytics into financial planning and impact assessment.
• Prepare regular performance reports detailing the financial performance and social/environmental impact of climate initiatives for senior leadership and the Board.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field; professional certifications (e.g., CFA) are a plus.
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in climate finance, sustainable investing, or financial strategy, preferably within a nonprofit, governmental, or private sector environment.
• Deep understanding of climate-related financial risks, sustainable investment models, and relevant regulatory frameworks.
• Demonstrated success in securing funding and managing budgets for climate or sustainability initiatives.
• Exceptional analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
