Title: Tier 2 IT Support Technician

Pay: 48,000-52,000/year

Location : 5x a week onsite in Houston, TX

Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled IT Support Technician (Tier 2) to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in Windows environments, exceptional troubleshooting skills, and experience supporting virtualization technologies. This role will be responsible for handling escalated technical issues, supporting AutoCAD users, managing mobile devices via Intune, and ensuring efficient ticket resolution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide Tier 2 technical support for end users, troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues.
  • Support and maintain Windows-based systems, including desktops, laptops, and servers.
  • Assist with AutoCAD software installation, configuration, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance for users.
  • Work with VDI/virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Citrix, or Hyper-V) to deploy and manage virtual desktops and applications.
  • Manage mobile devices using Microsoft Intune, ensuring compliance with security policies and best practices.
  • Handle escalated tickets in the IT service management system, ensuring timely resolution and proper documentation.
  • Collaborate with Tier 1 support and escalate complex issues to Tier 3 or specialized teams as needed.
  • Maintain and update knowledge base articles for common troubleshooting procedures.
  • Assist with software deployments, system updates, and patch management.
  • Participate in IT projects, system upgrades, and infrastructure improvements.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of IT support experience in a Tier 2 role or similar position.
  • Strong experience troubleshooting and supporting Windows 10/11 and Windows Server environments.
  • Hands-on experience with AutoCAD software support.
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Citrix, Hyper-V).
  • Experience managing mobile devices with Microsoft Intune or similar MDM solutions.
  • Familiarity with IT ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira, Zendesk) for issue tracking and resolution.
  • Strong networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate, or ITIL Foundation are a plus.
  • Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, and PowerShell scripting.
  • Knowledge of cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS.
