Private Equity Manager Tax Manager

Location: Houston, TX

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and driven Tax Manager to join our team. This position specializes in serving private equity and energy clients. In this role, you will lead tax planning, compliance, and advisory services for dynamic and complex clients in these industries. Key Responsibilities:

  • Tax Compliance & Review:

    • Manage and review federal, state, and international tax compliance for private equity funds, energy companies, and their related entities.
    • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of partnership, corporate, and individual tax returns.
  • Tax Planning & Advisory:

    • Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize tax liability and maximize value for private equity and energy clients.
    • Provide insights on tax implications for transactions, including acquisitions, divestitures, and reorganizations.
  • Transaction Support:

    • Collaborate with the firm’s transaction advisory team to assess tax impacts of mergers and acquisitions in private equity and energy sectors.
    • Perform tax due diligence and structure optimization for clients' investments.
  • Industry Expertise:

    • Stay current on tax regulations affecting private equity funds and energy companies, including energy credits and incentives.
    • Provide clients with guidance on emerging tax trends and opportunities in these industries.
  • Client Relationship Management:

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned clients, delivering exceptional service and identifying opportunities for additional services.
    • Foster long-term client relationships by understanding their unique business challenges and goals.
  • Team Leadership:

    • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of tax professionals, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services.
    • Manage workflow, deadlines, and budgets for client engagements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; Master’s degree in Taxation preferred.
  • CPA license required.
  • 6+ years of tax experience, with a focus on private equity or energy industries preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of partnership taxation, corporate taxation, and energy-related tax incentives.
  • Proven experience managing complex tax engagements in a public accounting or consulting environment.
  • Strong leadership, project management, and client relationship skills.
  • Proficiency with tax research tools and software (e.g., CCH, RIA Checkpoint).
