About this opportunity:

APPLE VALLEY NEWS NOW is seeking a Sports MMJ to join our news team. We're looking for a full-time, motivated and creative visual storyteller who is willing to use traditional and non-traditional means to create compelling content for television, web and social media. This role is perfect for telling the stories beyond the game. We are not looking for a highlights reader or play by play. We are looking for the person who wants to get to the heart of the athlete, coach, family and student and be a storyteller.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism or a related field
• Comprehensive knowledge of sports, with a focus on local high school sports
• Energetic personality and excellent communication skills (oral and written)
• Creative storyteller with strong social media and digital skills
• Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record
• Flexibility to travel and work any shift

Responsibilities:

• Ability to lift and carry 45 pounds
• Write and create digital-exclusive content for web and social media, including live posts
• Deliver sports stories clearly and concisely
• Respond to breaking sports events and urgent newsroom situations
• Shoot and edit video for sports reports and digital content
• Post and interact with viewers on social media professionally

Pay range: $17.00 – $18.20/hour
