The Position is headquartered in Sacramento.

  • This position provides hybrid telework opportunities. Beginning July 1, 2025, all employees are required to be in alignment with the Governor's Executive Order N-22-25.

Under the general direction of the Accounting Administrator I (AA I), within the Office of Finance & Administrative Operations (OFAO), Accounting Management Section (AMS), the Senior Accounting Officer (Specialist) performs the more difficult accounting functions for the California Department of Aging (CDA) and the California Commission on Aging (CCoA). The tasks require a high level of analytical and communication skills and independence of action in carrying out the responsibilities. The incumbent is responsible for processing the more difficult state operations payments, payment reporting and tracking, processing travel advances and expenses, year-end, and other miscellaneous tasks.

Working Conditions

The physical work location of the position is designated at the department's headquarters location, a three-story building and standard office modular workspace located in Natomas. The duties of the position require sitting for long periods of time while using a personal computer, reviewing documents, and attending meetings whether they are digital (i.e., Zoom, WebEx, MS Teams, etc.) or in person.

Special Requirements

This position is designated under the  Conflict of Interest Code . The position is responsible for making or participating in the making of governmental decisions that may potentially have a material effect on personal financial interests. The appointee is required to complete  Form 700 within 30 days of appointment and once per year. Failure to comply with the Conflict of Interest Code requirements may void the appointment.

  • Experience with State Travel rules and regulations
  • CalATERS experience processing travel advances and travel expense claims
  • FI$Cal experience in AP, PO Modules
  • Contract oversight experience/tracking expenditures
  • Proficient using MS Excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Excellent time management skills
