The State Group is seeking a Safety Coordinator based at the GM plant in Buffalo, New York. This position reports directly to the Regional Safety Manager.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • As a Safety Coordinator, you will conduct safety orientations, deliver safety training sessions, and participate in pre-task analysis meetings.
  • Complete job site-specific safety plans and perform regular safety audits.
  • Input, track, and maintain training records using safety training software.
  • Perform site inspections and collaborate with operations teams to mitigate identified risks.
  • Conduct accident investigations, including root cause analyses, and manage injury cases as required.
  • Ensure all inspections and incident investigations are completed accurately and on time.
  • Respond promptly to employee safety concerns and inquiries.
  • Communicate safety trends and improvement opportunities to management, field supervision, clients, and employees.
  • Contribute to the safety team, helping to define best practices and drive continuous improvement.
  • Participate in project planning meetings with the construction supervisor.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU NEED TO JOIN OUR TEAM

  • 3+ years of safety experience, including direct supervisory experience.
  • A bachelor's degree in safety or a related field, or equivalent experience, preferred.
  • Broad and detailed regulatory, training, inspection, and auditing knowledge.
  • Automotive, construction, or manufacturing industry experience is preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of compliance relating to DOT, MSHA, and other federal regulations is preferred.
  • Ability to manage priorities, and strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Capable of professionally handling a fast-paced work environment.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and conduct that sets an example of the core values of the organization.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed during periods of shutdown or peak activity.
