Job Description and Duties

Under the direction of a Redding Area Commander, duties will include, but are not limited to; planning, organizing, supervising and assigning work to communications center personnel; prepares a variety of complex written work, performance evaluations, monthly 100PSD forms, quality assurance reports, complaints, injury and illness reports; monitor critical incidents; coordinate repair work for communication center-related equipment; fulfill PRA and Custodian of Record requests; perform dispatch duties, as needed; provide direction and training to subordinate personnel and other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions

RCC maintains 2 first-line dispatch supervisors and utilizes the traditional workweek with seniority shift and vacation sign-ups. The Redding Area Commander may consider and approve the 9/8/80 workweek schedule on a case-by-case basis. Will be expected to work a variety of shifts - including nights, holidays, and weekends.

  • This position requires the ability to type at a minimum speed designated on the Classification Specifications (link available in the minimum requirements section).  You must obtain a valid typing certificate confirming your ability to meet the minimum typing speed prior to being hired.  Additional information regarding acceptable typing tests:
  • Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified prior to appointment. To satisfy the minimum qualification requirement with education, you must include your unofficial transcript(s)/diploma for initial review. Original diploma or official, sealed transcripts will be required prior to the start date. Applicants with foreign transcript(s)/degree(s) must provide a third-party transcript/degree credential evaluation that indicates the number of units to which the foreign coursework is equivalent.
