Contract IT Project Manager – City of Venice (Part-Time, 20+ Hours Per Week)

Pay: $35/hr.

Duration: 4 months or more

Job Summary:

The City of Venice is seeking a Contract IT Project Manager to oversee the implementation of a new dispatch system for the police department. This role is responsible for coordinating the installation of new computers and software, managing the conversion of records from the old system, and ensuring the project is completed on time and within budget. The ideal candidate will have experience in IT project management, system implementations, and data migration, with a strong ability to collaborate with vendors, IT teams, and law enforcement personnel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Oversight: Lead all aspects of the dispatch system implementation, ensuring completion within scope, budget, and timeline.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Work closely with IT teams, vendors, and police department personnel to facilitate a smooth transition.
  • Hardware & Software Implementation: Manage the installation and configuration of new computers and software.
  • Data Migration: Oversee the secure and accurate conversion of records from the legacy system to the new platform.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution: Address technical and operational challenges related to the new system implementation.
  • Compliance & Security: Ensure adherence to security protocols, data integrity standards, and compliance requirements.
  • Training & Support: Coordinate staff training and provide ongoing guidance to ensure a seamless adoption of the new system.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Education & Experience:
    • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Project Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
    • Prior experience in IT project management, system implementation, or software deployment.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong understanding of dispatch systems, data migration, and record management is a plus.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Project is preferred but not required.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
    • Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and work independently.
  • Certifications:
    • Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM), or similar certification is a plus but not required.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience managing IT projects for government agencies or law enforcement.
  • Familiarity with public safety dispatch systems and databases.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and coordination skills.
