Job Title: Payroll Specialist

Reports to: Admin Payroll Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

Compensation: $19 per hour

Benefits: Medical, Dental, AD&D

Job Purpose:

The Payroll Specialist plays a vital role in supporting payroll operations by ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in payroll processing. This position requires attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate with various departments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review and verify daily attendance records for staff agencies at the Service Center.
  • Prepare and submit attendance reports (T&As) to DC management for weekly approval.
  • Monitor and validate puller incentives for accuracy.
  • Process bi-weekly payroll before the Paychex deadline on Mondays at 2:30 PM PST.
  • Generate and submit weekly payroll cost reports for Admin-Accounting by Tuesdays at 9:00 AM.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing employee payroll inquiries and requests.
  • Review, research, and approve agency Payroll Action Requests (PAR) and payroll-related changes.
  • Conduct audits on weekly agency and labor-related invoices to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Assist with additional payroll-related tasks and projects as assigned.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Education & Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in payroll processing or a similar role (preferred).
  • Knowledge of payroll regulations, timekeeping systems, and labor laws.

Technical Skills:

  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience with payroll software and automation tools is a plus.

  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and meet strict deadlines.
  • A collaborative team player with a keen eye for detail.
  • Familiarity with distribution center operations is a plus.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • Ability to sit at a computer workstation for extended periods.
  • Occasionally lift up to 10 lbs.
  • May require climbing stairs within the facility.
  • Work in a distribution center environment with varying temperatures.
