A privately held 30 year old building material supplier located in West Palm Beach is looking for a Payroll Manager to join their team.
Key Responsibilities: - Manage the day-to-day payroll operations, ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees.
- Supervise and lead the payroll team, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high-quality performance and adherence to company policies.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including tax laws, labor laws, and benefits administration.
- Oversee the calculation of wages, salaries, bonuses, commissions, and deductions, ensuring all payments are accurate and reflect any applicable overtime or shift differentials.
- Prepare and submit payroll tax filings, including quarterly and annual reports, ensuring compliance with tax regulations and deadlines.
- Administer employee benefits, including deductions for health insurance, retirement plans, and other benefits, ensuring accurate deductions and contributions.
- Reconcile payroll data with general ledger entries, making sure all payroll-related accounts are accurate and up-to-date.
- Resolve payroll discrepancies and issues by working closely with HR, Finance, and employees to ensure issues are resolved quickly and efficiently.
- Maintain and update payroll records, ensuring all data is accurate and confidential.
- Provide reports and analysis on payroll costs, trends, and variances to management, offering insights into labor costs and financial performance.
- Work closely with the HR and Finance teams to ensure smooth integration of payroll with other human resources functions, such as timekeeping, benefits, and new hires.
- Stay current with changes to payroll laws and regulations and adjust processes as necessary to maintain compliance.
- Assist with the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts related to payroll and labor costs.
- Support audits by preparing necessary payroll documentation and responding to requests from external auditors.
- Ensure a positive employee experience by addressing payroll-related inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
Qualifications: - Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in payroll management or a similar role, with at least 2 years in a leadership or managerial position.
- Strong knowledge of payroll systems, tax regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in payroll software (e.g., ADP, Paychex, or similar systems) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
- In-depth understanding of wage and hour laws, tax codes, and other payroll-related regulations.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- High attention to detail and accuracy, with a focus on confidentiality and discretion in handling sensitive information.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Experience with managing payroll for a large, diverse workforce is preferred.
