We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our remote learning program in Springfield, Massachusetts. The ideal candidate will combine deep expertise in special education with the ability to teach and engage students effectively through virtual platforms. Key Responsibilities:
Create and Manage Virtual Learning Environments: Design and maintain engaging and supportive online classrooms for students with special needs.
Deliver Specialized Instruction: Provide individualized instruction and accommodations through virtual platforms, ensuring that each student's needs are met.
Collaborate with School Staff: Work closely with general education teachers, specialists, and support staff to provide a cohesive learning experience for all students.
Monitor Student Progress: Conduct virtual assessments and regularly track student progress to ensure they are meeting their learning goals.
Lead Virtual IEP Meetings: Facilitate online Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and collaborate with parents and the support team to ensure the best outcomes for each student.
Maintain Comprehensive Documentation: Keep accurate and up-to-date digital records of student performance, IEP goals, and communication with families.
Develop Behavioral Support Strategies: Create and implement virtual strategies to support student behavior and promote a positive learning environment.
Stay Current with Educational Trends: Continuously improve teaching strategies and keep up with the latest trends in educational technology and virtual teaching methods.
Required Qualifications:
A Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.
A valid Massachusetts teaching license with a Special Education endorsement.
A minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in special education.
Proficiency in using virtual learning platforms and digital tools to engage students.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to connect with students, parents, and colleagues effectively.
Experience in developing and implementing IEPs.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience teaching in a remote or online environment.
Familiarity with assistive technology and its application in a virtual classroom.
Bilingual language skills are a plus.
Experience working with diverse student populations and supporting students with a variety of needs.
Knowledge of Massachusetts state special education laws and regulations.
Schedule: This is a full-time position that follows the standard academic calendar. Work hours are Monday to Friday with flexibility to accommodate different time zones and student needs.
