Who are we hiring?

As an integral part of the creative, experience and design team at Sphere, the Motion Designer will be responsible for the design and animation of visual content, with special attention to motion graphics and typography. The ideal candidate is forward thinking, values innovation and enjoys pushing through creative boundaries. They will work with the Creative Directors, Art Directors and Writers to ideate, make and express visual concepts during the creative development phase, executing across brand and marketing applications. The Designer will be integral to the day-to-day creation and production of motion graphics — including experiential, promos, packaging, OOH displays, and emerging media platforms — while maintaining the highest level of design and brand consistency. We are looking for an adventurous teammate with a refined aesthetic and strong design skills that is highly motivated by the challenge of developing content for our world-first medium and platform.

What will you do?

  • Take direction from Creative Directors and/or Art Directors in the design and execution of original animated content
  • Develop animation storyboards, animatics, and final motion designs
  • Translate static designs into motion on a challenging spherical canvas
  • Develop and design creative concepts with the cross functional teams
  • Receive and discuss feedback on design with an open mind; be nimble, and able to rapidly pivot.

What do you need to succeed?

  • 5+ years in a fast-paced creative Motion Graphics Design studio
  • Strong command of design fundamentals, typography, color, balance, scale
  • Strong collaboration and relationship building skills
  • Detail oriented and organized
  • Experience working in a medium-to-large scale studio pipeline and the ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated high proficiency with After Effects, Photoshop, premiere, and Illustrator.
  • 2+ years using 3D design tools such as Cinema4D, Blender, Unreal, or Maya
  • Proficient in creation and editing of Board-o-matics, Animatics and Previsualization
  • Able to communicate design process, suggest creative solutions for production methods to remain agile and efficient
  • Keen ability to work with design, typography, storytelling and visual effects to enhance the overall impact and engagement of motion graphic content
  • Able to work in varying degrees of fidelity, from sketching through production (speed vs quality)
  • Able to clearly articulate and communicate design process
  • Strong knowledge of visual trends, emerging creative technologies, best practices, and experimental approaches in design and animation
  • Experience working with world class brands
  • Ability to perform well under pressure and under short deadlines

Pay Range

$93,000—$115,000 USD
