Mold Design Engineer - PS3112542

Pay: $70,000 - 100,000 base salary + benefits

Industry: Plastic Injection Molding

Location: Near Mosby, MO

Schedule: Full-time / 1st shift

We are looking for a skilled Mold Design Engineer to assist this company located near Mosby, MO and join their dynamic team. The Mold Design Engineer will be responsible for designing molds used in the manufacturing process. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mold design, proficiency in CAD software, and excellent problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Review customer data for tooling feasibility and design molds for various manufacturing processes while considering factors such as part geometry, material properties, and production requirements.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product designers, manufacturing engineers, and toolmakers, to develop mold designs that meet customer specifications and quality standards.
• Conduct feasibility studies and analyses to assess the manufacturability of mold designs, identify potential issues, and propose solutions to optimize the design for cost-effectiveness and efficiency.
• Utilize CAD software (e.g., Moldflow, CREO, Solidworks) to create detailed 2D models of mold components, assemblies, and tooling, ensuring accuracy and adherence to design standards.
• Generate technical documentation, including drawings, specifications, and bill of materials (BOM), to communicate design requirements to internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
• Work closely with tooling vendors and suppliers to review mold designs, provide technical guidance, and oversee the manufacturing process to ensure compliance with design specifications and timelines.
• Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance mold design processes, optimize performance, and minimize lead times.
• Stay abreast of industry trends, advancements in mold design technology, and best practices to incorporate innovative solutions and improve competitiveness.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field is preferred but not required.
• MUST have at least 5 years of proven experience in mold design for plastic manufacturing operations, preferably in Injection molding.
• Proficiency in CAD software, such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo, Moldflow or similar tools.
• Strong knowledge of mold design principles, including mold flow analysis, gating, cooling, and ejection systems.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to mold design and manufacturing processes.
• Effective communication skills with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
