Job Title: Junior Network Engineer

Location: Plano, TX, and Boise, ID


Long Term Contract

About the Role:

We are seeking a Junior Network Engineer for one of our clients based in Plano, TX, and Boise, ID. This Junior-level position is ideal for someone with foundational networking knowledge who is eager to learn, grow, and contribute to a team-oriented environment. The Junior Network Engineer will assist in maintaining and troubleshooting the client's network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and firewalls, while gaining hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent training/experience.
  • Foundational knowledge of networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VLANs.
  • Hands-on experience with basic configuration and management of routers and switches (academic projects or internships count).
  • Familiarity with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools such as Wireshark or similar.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies.
  • Good communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the configuration and maintenance of routers, switches, and other network hardware.
  • Perform basic network troubleshooting to identify and resolve connectivity issues.
  • Monitor network performance using tools such as SolarWinds or Wireshark, escalating issues as needed.
  • Support the implementation of network changes, upgrades, and security configurations under the supervision of senior engineers.
  • Help maintain accurate documentation of network diagrams, configurations, and processes.
  • Participate in network performance and capacity planning activities.
  • Learn and adhere to best practices for network security and reliability.
  • Collaborate with senior engineers and other IT staff to support various network-related projects and initiatives.
