Job Summary

Construction/Maintenance Planning Intern

The Lemont Refinery is searching for a Construction/Maintenance Planning intern who will become familiar with the refinery organization and work processes while learning refinery safe work practices. The intern will work on various projects throughout the refinery under the direction of a more senior planner or manager. This position is a paid 12-week summer internship. A presentation covering all aspects of the internship experience and accomplishments will be expected at the end of the term. This position is located on-site at the CITGO Refinery in Lemont, Illinois.

Expected Hourly Pay: $22.47 - $32.38

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in Construction Management Bachelor’s Degree program
• Must be at least a sophomore status in college (completion of freshman year)
• Must have overall GPA of 3.0 or above
• Available to work forty hours (40) per week
• Must have valid driver’s license

• Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) Eligibility

  • Eligibility Requirements: The Maritime Transportation Security Act requires all persons who will need unescorted access to a regulated facility to have a valid Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC), issued in accordance with the rules established by the United States Coast Guard and the Transportation Security Administration.

Job Duties

• Assist or perform maintenance duties which may include planning, scheduling, ordering material for scope per worklist and repair requests for daily operations or project/outages.
• Assist with schedule development interfacing with execution contractor to maximize schedule and minimize manpower and cost.
• Work with integrated team of Operations, Reliability Engineering, Process Engineering, Inspection and Safety to solve daily challenges of a safe and reliable plant operation. Site visits may include witnessing of site activities and scoping and verification for projects.
• Complete End of Internship Summary and presentation.
