We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Data Engineer to oversee the design and implementation of scalable data solutions while leading a team of developers. This role is key in ensuring that data initiatives align with strategic business goals, promote data quality and governance, and support the overall product roadmap. You will mentor team members, drive best practices in architecture and engineering, and collaborate with stakeholders to solve complex data challenges. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, balances technical expertise with leadership, and is passionate about enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization.

Accountabilities:

• Lead the team in technical architecture, data solution design, and day-to-day engineering practices.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance through code reviews, story definition, and knowledge sharing.
• Ensure adherence to architecture, data governance, quality, and security standards; define team-specific standards when necessary.
• Collaborate with product owners and stakeholders to align data initiatives with the product roadmap.
• Manage the implementation team, including engineers, QA, and business systems analysts.
• Track data project milestones, raise risks, and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Promote data literacy and self-service analytics to foster a collaborative data-driven culture.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in data engineering or data architecture roles.
• Strong expertise in SQL (MSSQL or Snowflake preferred) and ETL platforms such as SSIS, Azure Data Factory, or Informatica.
• Proven experience leading technical teams and managing complex data projects.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to mentor and develop team members while driving engineering best practices.
• Preferred: experience with Agile methodologies, DevOps practices, and insurance industry familiarity.
