Paul, Weiss's Business Development (BD) team is looking for a Junior Analyst with a demonstrated interest in restructuring, distressed debt, capital markets, and/or special situations to help support our market-leading Restructuring Practice. The Junior Analyst will assist with targeted distressed and stressed market monitoring and analysis, as well as related research and reporting. Based in New York, the Junior Analyst is key member of the BD team and will assist their BD colleagues identify distressed market trends, advance actionable new and cross-selling business opportunities, and drive relationships forward.
Position Overview
This position is intended as a structured learning experience; our ‘apprenticeship' model will equip candidates with the diverse tools required to understand businesses at a granular level. The role emphasizes restructuring but incudes substantial exposure to broader transaction services, such as M&A, IPOs, capital raises and refinancings, equity rights offerings, and other strategic alternatives. The Junior Analyst will develop a close-working relationship with the restructuring partners at the firm, leading to long-term opportunities to assist and learn from market-leading attorneys.
After two years, a Junior Analyst will be prepared to undertake a rigorous career, whether they choose to remain in the legal field, or transition to banking, private equity, distressed debt, long/short equity investing, consulting, or the corporate side. This role requires interaction and collaboration with a diverse group of business professionals within the broader marketing/business development department and throughout the firm on a regular basis. The successful candidate will have exceptional attention to detail, excellent oral and written communication skills, a positive attitude and the ability to multitask.
