Job Description

Industrial Maintenance Technician, PLC & Hydraulics

Location: Beloit, Wisconsin

Compensation: $37.88–$43.27 per hour, plus $1.00/hour shift differential

Schedules available: Tuesday–Saturday on 2nd shift or Sunday–Thursday on 3rd shift. As you gain tenure, a Monday–Friday option may open.

A day in the life

You arrive on shift, review your work orders, and head to the production floor. One moment you’re isolating a fault on a 480V 3‑phase motor using a volt‑ohm meter, amp meter, or oscilloscope; the next, you’re rebuilding a control valve or returning a centrifugal or positive displacement pump to service. You’ll read schematics, diagnose AC/DC electrical issues, and leverage your PLC savvy to keep the line moving. When fabrication is needed, you can run lathes and mills, and you’re comfortable welding (arc and Heliarc®) to complete repairs.

What makes this team unique

  • Expertise with high‑voltage wiring (480V 3‑phase motors)
  • True multi‑craft capability—interrelated electrical and mechanical diagnostics and repair

Impact you’ll make

  • Troubleshoot diverse equipment and resolve downtime with urgency
  • Restore production and facilities assets after failures
  • Drive equipment efficiency, effectiveness, and reliability
  • Respond to maintenance calls, including assisting with in‑progress repairs
  • Inspect machinery, build repair lists, and plan short‑ and long‑term fixes
  • Use task lists and work orders to diagnose and implement corrective actions
  • Coach entry‑level mechanics through complex repairs

Where you’ll work

Our manufacturing facilities are large and can be loud. Temperature control is limited, so indoor conditions reflect the season and weather. Work volume and tasks vary by day and by assigned area, and so may your hours.

Grow with us

You’ll start with Frito‑Lay, with the potential to grow a career across PepsiCo. We offer competitive pay and robust benefits: medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company contribution, paid time off, and more.

Is this you?

If you already have significant maintenance experience with pneumatics, hydraulics, PLCs, and AC/DC systems, this is a strong match. If you’re earlier in your journey, consider our entry‑level roles that better align with your current skills.

Before any in‑person interview, candidates complete a hands‑on electrical skills assessment.

Minimum qualifications

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Available to work weekends and holidays
  • Lift 15–50 lbs with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Stand and walk for extended periods with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Climb, bend, reach, stoop, kneel, and stretch for extended periods with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Work around extreme temperatures, humidity, hazardous/loud equipment, and slippery surfaces

What helps you succeed

  • Electrical certification, technical school, manufacturing maintenance experience, and/or welding experience
  • Solid base in mechanical/electrical maintenance and multi‑craft troubleshooting
  • Preferred: ~2+ years of training/experience in mechanical/electrical repair in a manufacturing environment

Traits our leaders value

  • Customer service mindset: Partner respectfully with teammates across the floor
  • Adaptability: Reprioritize quickly as calls come in
  • Ownership: Be a self‑starter who thrives working independently
  • Safety focus: Follow procedures to protect people and product—safety is everyone’s job

Skills you bring

  • PLC troubleshooting and programming experience
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics
  • Electrical/electronic systems diagnostics and repair
  • Mechanical and electrical troubleshooting
  • Food and beverage manufacturing exposure
  • Strong communication and basic computer proficiency
  • High School diploma or GED

Tools/tech you’ll work with

  • Programmable Logic Controller (PLC)
  • Volt‑ohm meter, amp meter, oscilloscope
  • Lathes, mills, arc and Heliarc® welders
  • Pneumatic and hydraulic systems, control valves, pumps
