Job Description

Avion Solutions Inc., an employee-owned company, seeks candidates for a High Energy Laser (HEL) Power and Thermal Subsystem Engineer to support the US Army at Redstone Arsenal. This position is based in Huntsville, AL.

Job Responsibilities/Duties:

• Provide technical input and oversight for the power and thermal subsystems, ensuring the systems meet performance and safety standards.
• Develop and adapt modeling and simulation codes for performance assessment of laser systems.
• Perform data analysis and develop assessment models for these subsystems in an array of environmental and mission conditions.
• Conduct research in optics, fiber optics, and optical correlators.
• Manage project tasks, schedules, and interface with government customers and the defense community.
• Prepare technical reports, standard operating procedures, and other documentation related to laser system operations and performance.
• Support the government lead for HEL subsystems, power, and thermal subsystem support of the laser source, beam control system, and fire control/battle management.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong understanding of state-of-the-art power and thermal architectures that may support HEL prototype weapon and future HEL weapon systems.
• Experience in developing and maintaining system functional and logical models for HEL subsystems.
• Proficiency in digital engineering toolsets and integration strategies.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Must be a U.S. citizen and have an active DoD Secret Security Clearance.
• Must be able to travel up to 15% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with qualification processes.
• Familiarity with digital engineering integration strategies and non-SE toolsets.
• Experience with High Energy Laser systems and related technologies.
