Job Overview
The Field Service Technician is an integral customer-facing position and as such is expected to conduct himself or herself professionally and responsibly. This position affects every facet of our company and is in the most critical department for fostering our reputation in the industry and additional equipment sales. This is a fast-paced position, requiring the ability to multi-task while working independently and while keeping in mind the best interests of our company, our customers, end users, reps, and distributors.
Requirements - Education: High school graduate or higher
- Experience: 3+ years of maintaining process equipment/capital equipment/heavy industrial equipment; must have industrial electrical and instrumentation/controls experience regardless of industry.
- Must possess a clean driver’s license, current passport, and ability to travel without issue throughout North America, South America, Latin America, Australia, and New Zealand.
Skills and Qualifications
Computer skills and the working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including but not limited to Outlook, Work, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and Process and Instrumentation diagrams.
- Basic understanding of electrical principles, common electrical components, and testing of AC and DC electrical circuits.
- Diagnostic and problem-solving skills for the troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical issues.
- Understanding of Instrumentation and Controls.
- The understanding or ability to learn PLC communications and logic, to upload and download programs, troubleshoot problems and make basic changes.
Key Responsibilities - Travel throughout North & Latin America providing service in the form of maintenance, troubleshooting, commissioning, training, and making recommendations for the full line of THE COMPANY products.
- Provide clear and concise communication to a wide range of customers, including plant operators, engineers, regulators, and contracts on the work that is planned during the trip.
- Actively listen and follow up with customers, Representatives, Distributors, and all parties involved prior to leaving the site to ensure expectations are met or exceeded.
- Manage & book all travel and ensure travel coincides with schedule and with on-site contacts.
- Follow THE COMPANY and all manufacturers’ recommended service and on-site working procedures to ensure equipment meets health and safety requirements.
- Ensure working practices meet the requirements of customer’s site regulations.
- Provide training to customers, end users, Representatives, and Distributors when required. On occasion, video training may be conducted by the customer.
- Communicate with relevant departments to escalate technical issues and follow quality control/customer complaint procedures.
- On occasion, work in the warehouse providing equipment testing, modifications, calibrations, and preparation of new systems.
- Provide telephone and email technical support to customers, end users, Representatives, and Distributors as needed.
- Backup technical support and service support staff as required.
