English Instructor - Gear Up for Fall Program

Summertime at GFS invites kids of all ages to explore their gifts, skills, and talents in a safe and fun environment. The Summer Camps team is seeking an experienced English teacher to lead four 75-minute English classes as part of its two-week Gear Up for Fall program. The Gear Up for Fall Program is for rising 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th Graders.

The English Instructor will teach from 9 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. Monday-Friday, August 18-29, which includes short breaks and a lunch break. Lesson preparation and the checking of student work are expected and usually done outside of teaching time. Instructors are responsible for all prep and lesson planning related to their instruction weeks.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare daily lessons focused on Expository Writing
  • Review and give feedback on student work
  • Engage fully in Summertime at GFS, sharing your passion for teaching, learning, and leading

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years teaching experience
  • Ability to deliver written and verbal feedback
  • Flexible approach to pedagogy
  • Ability to work with students and teachers from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds
  • Excellent presentation, writing, and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Creativity, energy, and ability to exercise agility in educational environments

Schedule 
August 18 - August 22, 2025
August 25 - August 29, 2025

8th Grade English: 9:00 a.m. - 10:15 a.m.
7th Grade English: 10:30 a.m. - 11:45 a.m.
10th Grade English: 12:30 p.m. - 1:45 p.m.
9th Grade English: 2:00 p.m. - 3:15 p.m.

Compensation: $2,200 stipend
