Job Description

Are you a skilled electrician looking for an exciting new opportunity to put your talents to work? The Department of Human Services is currently seeking dedicated Electricians to join our team at Clarks Summit State Hospital. In this essential role, you will be part of the maintenance trades section within our facility services department. Your responsibilities will include performing specialized tasks in line with industry standards and the National Electrical Code, working on all electrical systems, equipment, and fixtures throughout the facility. In this position, you will be responsible for inspecting all pump motors, compressors, and their associated controls; performing lubrication, repairs, and maintenance on electrical equipment and lighting throughout the entire facility; installing conduit, switchgear, and related control systems; and identifying and resolving power failures and circuit shorts. You will also be involved in upgrading and installing new electrical panels and wiring to accommodate the growing electrical demands of both patients and staff. Additionally, you will showcase your time management and decision-making skills by prioritizing tasks, adapting to changing work conditions, and ensuring the timely completion of assignments.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
    • Rotating weekend and holiday schedule
  • Travel and overtime: As needed 
  • May change based on operational needs.
  • Salary:   In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Successful completion of the Electrician Trainee program (commonwealth title); or
  • Four years of experience installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems, components, and equipment; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirement:

  • This position requires possession of a valid license as a journey-level electrician issued by the local Pennsylvania jurisdiction.
