The Wire EDM Programmer / CAD Drafter is responsible for creating detailed drawings, programming Wire EDM equipment, performing basic machine maintenance, and supporting die room operations. This role requires strong technical skills in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Wire EDM programming, and precision machining.
Key ResponsibilitiesCreate accurate drawings for quoting and production using AutoCAD 2012 or newer and SolidWorks based on instructions from the Die Room Manager.
Program Wire EDM machines using Fanuc Robocut CAMi software (required).
Operate and troubleshoot Wire EDM equipment including Robofil 290 Charmilles and Fanuc Robocut C400iB .
Perform routine machine maintenance, including lubrication, adjustments, and minor repairs following manufacturer guidelines.
Complete all required documentation and activity logs accurately and on time.
Maintain a clean and organized work area through regular housekeeping.
Follow all safety procedures and use proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
Support additional tasks and assignments as directed by the Die Room Manager or shift supervisor.
Proficiency in AutoCAD (2012 or newer) and SolidWorks .
Strong knowledge of standard drafting practices and techniques.
Wire EDM programming experience with Fanuc Robocut CAMi (mandatory).
Hands-on experience operating Robofil 290 Charmilles and Fanuc Robocut C400iB Wire EDM machines.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, schematics, and work instructions.
Solid math skills including basic arithmetic, percentages, and proportions.
Ability to fabricate parts from samples or engineering prints.
Understanding of mechanical operations, machine alignment, and precision measurement.
Ability to calculate dimensions and tolerances using tools such as micrometers and calipers.
Knowledge of G-code programming .
Strong teamwork skills and ability to work collaboratively in a production environment.
