Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced  Director of Human Resources  to lead the HR function across our retail stores and supply chain/distribution operations. This role is critical as the company evolves from a closely held, family-owned business to a private equity-backed organization preparing for rapid growth and professionalization. The Director of HR will serve as a key partner to senior leadership, helping to build scalable people processes, strengthen culture, and develop high-impact HR practices across the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic and hands-on HR leadership across retail, distribution, and corporate teams.
  • Lead all aspects of the HR function, including talent acquisition, employee relations, performance management, total rewards, compliance, and training & development.
  • Serve as a business partner to field and operations leaders to align HR strategy with organizational goals.
  • Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and programs that support a high-performance, values-driven culture.
  • Design and implement scalable HR systems and infrastructure to support multi-site operations, future expansion and acquisitions.
  • Oversee recruitment efforts for key roles across stores and distribution centers, with an emphasis on building a strong leadership pipeline.
  • Champion organizational change management and employee engagement as the company transitions to a PE-backed model.
  • Ensure compensation programs are competitive and aligned with company objectives.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, ideally in retail, supply chain, or similar environments.
  • Proven success leading HR in a company undergoing transformation or growth, including private equity-backed organizations.
  • Broad generalist background with strong expertise in employee relations, recruiting, compensation, and organizational development.
  • Experience leading HR across both hourly and salaried employee populations.
  • Strong business acumen, with the ability to balance strategic thinking and operational execution.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills; able to influence and build trust across all levels of the organization.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field; HR certification (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR) preferred.
