About the role

The Director of Ethics & Compliance Investigations will manage the investigations team and take a leadership role in the continuous development and improvement of Balfour Beatty Communities' (the “Company”) Ethics & Compliance investigations program. The Director of Ethics & Compliance Investigations will be responsible for developing, implementing, and the day-to-day operation of the Ethics & Compliance investigations program for the Company. This role is integral to the organization and serves as a key member of the Company's Ethics & Compliance team. The position will work with the Ethics & Compliance team, HR, Legal, Internal Audit, and outside counsel to implement and execute an effective investigations program, including the continued development of the Company's investigations framework and reporting process.

What you'll be doing

  • Managing and conducting investigations of varied complexity and scope in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Prioritize, classify and assign the investigation (including type, severity, and material risk to Balfour Beatty and notify the relevant individuals.
  • Manage third party vendors and liaise with law enforcement as needed to support investigations.
  • Establish investigation-related operating policies and procedures based on best practices and assist with trainings on these policies and procedures.
  • Work with the Ethics & Compliance team and Company leadership to interpret organizational policies and to implement remediation following an investigation, which may include modifying policies, enhanced training, coaching, or monitoring.

Who we're looking for

  • BA/BS degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or related field and/or JD
  • Knowledge of and experience with issues related to government contracting preferred
  • Knowledge of and experience with investigating complex compliance matters, including fraud and financial crimes.
  • Minimum of 12 years investigative experience (law firm, in-house, law enforcement with familiarity investigating financial crimes, or forensic accounting firm).
  • Minimum of 5 years in a manager/supervisory role
