Rotating - 08 Hour (United States of America) Spiritual Care Service provides spiritual and emotional support. These chaplains provide a consistent spiritual care presence and develop relationships with unit and team staff colleagues. There is also at least one chaplain or chaplain fellow/resident/intern available at Stanford Hospital (300P & 500P) at all times. **This is a Stanford Health Care job.** **A Brief Overview** The CHAPLAIN EDUCATOR/CPE is a faculty member of Spiritual Care Education-CPE within Spiritual Care Services at Stanford Health Care. The primary responsibilities of the chaplain educator/CPE include direct supervision CPE students. This position provides instruction, supervision and facilitation of group learning, and clinical oversight of students assigned as chaplains on patient care units of the hospital. The Chaplain Educator/CPE is an ACPE Certified Educator or Associate Educator. Spiritual Care Education-CPE is responsible for operating ACPE Accredited CPE Programs at Stanford Health Care and its affiliated placements. Faculty and students function as members of the Spiritual Care Services team. **Locations** Stanford Health Care **What you will do** + CLINICAL PASTORAL EDUCATION1. Assists the Manager of Spiritual Care Education-CPE in effective management of the day-to-day operations of the Clinical Pastoral Education program (including organizing, scheduling, managing, and supporting educational offerings of the center, achieving and maintaining ACPE accreditation, developing curriculum, and supervising/evaluating ongoing program efficacy).2. Functions as a professional ACPE Certified Educator or Associate Certified Educator in providing supervision for CPE Students. Provides direct supervision to student cohorts consisting of up to six students each, with either (1) one intensive unit cohort or (2) two extended unit cohorts at a time. If supervising a Certified Educator Candidate who is providing direct supervision, may be responsible for up to thirteen students total.3. Participates in recruitment and training for students in the CPE Program.4. Participates in accreditation-specific duties to include; drafting and implementing program policies/procedures, producing program analytics on consumer data, program completion rates, alumni placements, monitoring changes to ACPE Standards, updating program materials, and proposing policy/protocol revisions to ensure compliance.5. Supports engagement of Professional Advisory Group members in CPE Program functions including receptions, didactics, admissions interviews, unit feedback review, etc.6. Responsible for writing effective materials for the program and within the organization on CPE, education and other areas of spiritual and religious interest.7. Expresses a solid understanding of education theory and can facilitate and present subjects relevant to the CPE process.8. Maintains visibility in the patient care units that have CPE students and works with the unit managers to ensure program effectiveness.9. Maintains remote reachability on nights and weekends for urgent student consultations, except as arranged with faculty team for shared coverage.10. Completes final evaluations, unit registrations, and other necessary program paperwork within accreditation-required time frames and preferably prior to first class day of the subsequent unit of CPE. + CHAPLAIN11. Functions as a professional chaplain.12. Provides interfaith spiritual assessment, intervention, education and training which enables patients, family members, visitors, and staff to draw upon their own religious and spiritual resources.13. Internal and external teaching and outreach on spiritual care topics.14. Performs special religious/spiritual services (rituals, baptisms, memorials, etc.) requested of the Spiritual Care Service and as appropriate to professional functioning.15. Participates in triage and backup triage (on call) coverage as needed. **Education Qualifications** + Master of Divinity (M.Div.) or its equivalent in theological studies from an institution accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), or equivalency approved by the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC) or Cognate (ACPE, CASC, NACC, NAJC), or ACCA or NAVAC required + Endorsement to serve as a chaplain or in a specialized spiritual care group required **Experience Qualifications** + 3 years of experience in professional spiritual caregiving required **Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities** + Ability and stamina to minister to patients/residents/clients with varying spiritual, emotional needs. + Ability to adjust communications to fit the needs and level of understanding of the receiver. + Ability to energize team members. + Ability to establish and maintain excellent client relationships, exhibit exemplary interpersonal skills and exercise sound judgment and professionalism in business and personnel matters. + Ability to provide leadership and influence others. + Ability to remain calm under pressure and apply sound judgment. + Ability to solve problems and identify solutions. + Ability to speak and write effectively at a level appropriate for the job. + These are the observable and measurable attributes and skills required to perform successfully the essential functions of the job and are generally demonstrated through qualifying experience, education, or licensure/certification. **Licenses and Certifications** + ACPE - Association for Clinical Pastoral Educator required + Board Certified Chaplain from a certifying body Association of Professional Chaplains (APC), Neshama: Association of Jewish Chaplains (NAJC), National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC), or Spiritual Care Association (SCA) preferred + ACPE National Faculty or National Faculty eligible preferred **These principles apply to ALL employees:** **SHC Commitment to Providing an Exceptional Patient & Family Experience** _Stanford Health Care sets a high standard for delivering value and an exceptional experience for our patients and families.
