Description Bartender [ Hypsi ] Hypsi Bartender • Full Time Hypsi, the signature restaurant at the new Hotel Daphne, located in the heart of Houston Heights is preparing to open its doors, and we're building a passionate, hospitality-driven team to bring it to life.
Italian-inspired with a Houston spirit, Hypsi will launch with dinner service and expand into breakfast and lunch soon after. The menu will spotlight a robust pasta program and elegant yet approachable entrées. A signature roaming mozzarella cart will serve hand-pulled cheeses with curated add-ons like pickled vegetables, aged vinegars, and cold-pressed olive oil.
We are now looking to grow our team and are seeking dynamic individuals who will capture the very essence of this culinary destination and join our team as a Bartender.
Your role Hypsi, the signature restaurant at the new Hotel Daphne is now recruiting a bartender. A Bartender will mix and serve drinks to patrons (directly or through wait staff), wait on bar patrons and serve items from the bar menu. A Bartender must have good communication skills, the ability to resolve conflicts and a thorough understanding of Bunkhouse policies. All Bunkhouse/Hyatt employees are expected to greet all guests in proximity and make each feel important by providing a genuine welcome. Furthermore, Bartenders must develop and maintain the company's culture, values, and reputation in the public eye, and with all staff, guests, vendors, and partners.
Responsibilities: - Take beverage orders from serving staff or directly from patrons
- Mix ingredients to prepare and garnish cocktails and other beverages according to Bunkhouse standards
- Serve snacks or food items to customers as requested or submit order to Kitchen
- Clean glasses, utensils, and bar equipment
- Arrange bottles and glasses to make attractive displays
- Help plan and organize the menu and operations of the Cocktail Lounge or Bar
- Ensure immediate response is given to all guest comments and concerns and inform immediate supervisor of concerns.
- Check identification of customers to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol
- Balance receipts and ensure payment is received from guests.
- Attempt to limit problems and liability related to customers' excessive drinking by taking steps such as persuading customers to stop drinking, or ordering taxis or other transportation for intoxicated patrons
- Order or requisition liquors and supplies
- Ask customers who become loud and unruly to leave
- Maintain a high level of cleanliness and safety in the work area
Qualifications Qualifications - Six (6) months related experience in hospitality or service industry
- Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) of the workplace
- Availability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Requirements - Able to perform the essential functions consistent safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting quality standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state and local standards
- Must be able to sit, stand, and squat frequently.
