Role:  Barista

Location:  Melissa, TX

Purpose:  To provide guests with an exceptional experience by offering courteous, friendly, and efficient service in all areas, including drink crafting, food preparation, and product education. The Barista will enhance the guest experience by sharing the story of HOPE Coffee and fostering an environment that reflects our Team Values.

What You’ll Do:

Provide Exceptional Guest Experiences:

• Greet and interact with guests, offering outstanding service.
• Prepare coffee, tea, and other beverages by following recipes.
• Sell and serve baked goods, food products, and store merchandise.
• Educate guests on the basics of coffee, including growing, harvesting, roasting, grinding, and brewing.
• Answer telephone and other communications courteously, providing store information or taking orders.
• Deliver orders to customers when necessary.
• Report customer concerns or suggestions to supervisors for appropriate responses.
• Share the impact and mission of HOPE Coffee with guests.

Providing a Great Environment and Culture:

• Maintaining Cleanliness and inviting space   by following procedures and completing shift responsibilities
• Clean and maintain the coffee bar and guest areas.
• Reset and clean the condiments bar periodically.
• Contribute to weekly and monthly deep cleaning tasks.
• Restock shelves with merchandise as needed.
• Ensure the back bar area is restocked for team members.
• Assist with restocking from vendor deliveries.

Engaging with Team Members:

• Follow all procedures outlined in the operational manual.
• Attend staff training sessions to advance personal skills and team cohesion.
• Offer well-thought-out ideas for improving operations.
• Complete additional duties as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Must be 18 or older.
• Must have available to be scheduled for Shifts Monday through Saturday.
• Excellent communication skills with guests.
• Positive and friendly attitude with guests and team members.
• Passion for serving others and a commitment to learning about coffee.
• Ability to learn and apply new skills quickly and effectively.
• Willingness to follow procedures and continuously improve.
• Ability to lift 30 lbs., bend, and twist from the waist.
• Frequent use of hand and finger motions, handling food and hot beverages, and working with sharp objects.
• Capability to operate equipment such as espresso machines, coffee grinders, and brewing equipment.
• Ability to work in a noisy environment without distraction.
• Basic math skills for operating the point-of-sale system and providing accurate change.
